Elke Mackenzie | The Quiet Mind

I am the founder of The Quiet Mind, a Canberra-based practice that supports people experiencing stress, overwhelm and the emotional challenges that often accompany significant life transitions, including separation and divorce.

My work is centred on helping clients regulate stress, think more clearly and develop the emotional capacity to engage in difficult conversations, make informed decisions and navigate change with greater confidence. When people are highly distressed, it can be difficult for them to process information, communicate effectively or participate constructively in legal and family discussions. I provide practical, evidence-informed strategies that help clients become more grounded and better equipped to move through these challenges.

My approach integrates nervous system regulation, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) principles and professional coaching to support emotional wellbeing and resilience. I work collaboratively alongside legal and other professionals, complementing their expertise by helping clients manage the emotional demands of the process so they can participate more effectively.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts with majors in Psychology and Anthropology and am a qualified Nervous System Regulation Practitioner, trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Ontological Coaching and Collaborative Practice. Before establishing The Quiet Mind, I spent more than 15 years in senior leadership and advisory roles across government, healthcare, Indigenous affairs and the pharmaceutical industry, developing a deep understanding of communication, decision-making and supporting people through complex situations.

I believe that when people feel calmer, more supported and emotionally regulated, they are better able to engage with the collaborative process and work towards outcomes that are thoughtful, respectful and sustainable for everyone involved.
